Sometimes a poem says it all

Let go and Let God we’re oft advised. Easier said than done. It’s like  thinking “God I trust you but let me drive!” Or as Marianne Williamson once said in one of her tele-talks “It’s not that we don’t hear what God is telling us to do – it’s that we don’t LIKE what God is telling us to do!” So as she explains, after taking our petitions to God, and getting the answer, we then tell God “Listen I am not sure you understand the situation fully. I will let you simmer with the information for a couple more days – give you some more time -and then I’ll come back to you!” It’s like me learning to swim but afraid to let go of the side of the pool. Which is why I love this poem written by Irene Stanley back in the 1930s…

You have to get go of the rung below

When you reach for the round above.

There is no other way to climb, you know,

You have to let go of the rung below.

Each upward step brings more of the glow

And warmth of the Sun of Love,

You have to let go of the rung below,

When you reach for the round above.
